I had the chance to hang out with a fellow friend and Pastor. Over excellent ethnic Indian food we spent some time talking about all the great things God is doing in my world and in his ministry. I particularly enjoyed hearing his stories because his ministry focuses on reaching the Muslim community for Christ. His ministry is not only in the United States, but also in the Middle East. He frequently holds outdoor crusades under tents in this part of the world.
Back in college, a lot of my friends were from various religions. Some of my closest friends were Muslims and Hindus. We would often hangout, and even now, years later, we stay in touch. I learned a lot about their beliefs. Although a lot of religions are based on similar principals and names, there’s one big name that sets my beliefs apart from anyone else’s: Jesus!
♫What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King♫
I am so sorry!… I tend to get distracted singing sometimes… Anyway, you get what I’m saying.
Now back to what I was saying, there’s a lot of people out there that need “The Truth”. One thing that impacts me of this Pastor’s ministry is that he is willing to put himself in danger to spread the gospel. The evangelistic crusades that he holds in the Middle East go against the region’s beliefs. Because of this, the crusades are no more than an hour, and quick set up and tear down of the tents is crucial to avoid getting in trouble with the authorities.
As he is talking I am thinking: “Why?… why put yourself in this kind of risk?”. It’s almost like he knew what I was thinking, because he answered my question. He said: “Believe it or not, there is a revival happening in the Middle East. People are burning inside to encounter this ‘Jesus’ that we preach. People that were sick and sent to die have been getting healed by this ‘Jesus’. This ‘Jesus’ defies science and the natural, and He does things that are supernatural. This ‘Jesus’ died and rose. People want to encounter our ‘Jesus!'”
Hearing things like that make me want to praise break! They want to know about my Jesus!
It’s so easy to get caught up in what we see on the news. Watching the news can sometime make us wonder if God is doing anything, but rest assure, there’s a shake-up occurring in all the confines of the earth! I share this testimony with you so you can be encouraged! Don’t ever feel like God isn’t using you or has forgotten about you. God is using you to bring hope, healing, and restoration to those around you. People may not tell you, but you are definitely making an impact in someone’s life! I am sure that when people see you, they see Jesus, and because of that, they want to encounter Him. There is a shake-up happening!
